The Manta Trust team joins every guest excursion to the local aggregation sites to provide guests with a briefing on manta rays, conduct research and take photographs during the dive. However, any particularly manta mad guests can get a deeper and more interactive understanding of the Manta Trusts work in Laamu and around the world by joining the Maldivian Manta Ray Dive Speciality Course taught by the Manta Trust and Deep Blue Divers.
Course Overview
The Maldivian Manta Ray Dive Specialty course introduces divers to basic
manta identification and conservation. The goals of the course are:

To provide students with a basic understanding of manta ray biology and distribution

Educate students on manta ray life history and the threats which are facing manta populations throughout their range

Provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to identify manta rays using photo identification and to contribute to MantaBase global database
04
Provide students with the necessary knowledge needed to ensure they interact with manta rays in a respectful and responsible way to minimise the negative impacts of tourism related activities upon these animals
Whats involved?
As part of the Maldivian Manta Ray Dive Speciality course you will :
Dive with a Manta Trust marine biologist on two adventure dives to manta ray hotspots
Learn how to collect data on manta rays
Attend interactive classroom presentations
Gain an official PADI certification
For advanced open water course students, 1 manta ray dive can be credited towards the course
Prerequisites
A minimum qualification of PADI Junior Open Water/equivalent or above
Be at least 12 years.
Interest in marine conservation
